Abstract


: Triangle zone in the Kangra re-entrant of Himalayan Foothills is the resultant of two oppositely hading thrusts, viz., Jawalamukhi/Gambhar thrust and the Deragopipur/Barsar back thrust. It is similar to many other triangle zones around the world and they are perfectly normal and common features of thrust fold belts. As many as six exploratory wells have been drilled around Jawalamukhi which have given indication of thermogenic gas with highly saline water.
