Abstract
Mahanadi basin is the least understood of the East coast basins of India, in terms of its stratigraphic setting and hydrocarbon plays. Though the wells drilled in the basin have indicated hydrocarbon shows during drilling, the basin still lacks a systematic understanding of its petroleum potential.
