Abstract

Time lapse seismic reservoir modeling can image fluid flow effects in a reservoir if the changes in seismic pattern can be observed. In the present study, Gassmann fluid substitution analysis and forward modeling based on subsurface model has been carried out to predict reservoir response. 2D seismic modeling was performed to simulate the CO2 injection scenario in the Nisku Formation in the Wabamun area. A decrease in the impedance values are observed in the postinjection scenario and the identification of the CO2 plume is more evident in the inverted result than in stacked section.
