Abstract

Proterozoic basins are the least studied for hydrocarbons because of the paucity of data leading to an inadequate understanding of the tectonic events that shaped the basin architecture, sedimentation history, and original depositional boundaries, which in turn limits the assessment of the elements and processes of the petroleum system in the basins. The Proterozoic witnessed the most profound biological and geochemical change in Earth
