Abstract

Exploitation and field development plans become challenging when reservoirs are heterogeneous nature, especially when dominant frequency of seismic data falls below seismic resolution. Such problems need to be solved with sedimentary facies analysis, although some uncertainty exists in facies interpretation due to uniqueness of geological processes, and so, there is no certified list for facies. This study aims to better define varying behavior of production from Penugonda reservoirs of Raghavapuram formation by generating facies model at reservoir level through integrated analysis of sedimentary facies, electrofacies and production data. Penugonda reservoirs are heterogeneous and do not show diagnostic correlation with seismic attributes. Core examination and electrofacies interpretation signifies a tide-dominated deltaic depositional environment. Production data during primary recovery captures the size of the reservoir bodies and helps to distinguish between different types of reservoir facies. A robust facies model then generated ensures that it honors static and dynamic data of the reservoir. This study validates that the understanding of reservoir facies distribution can be improved by integration of production data and can assist optimizing future drilling campaigns.
