Abstract

The discovery of the S8 sand in Wadu-Paliyad field, situated in the northern part of the Kalol Field within the Ahmedabad-Mehsana tectonic block of the Cambay Basin, marked a significant milestone in enhancing the oil production of the field. Through a structured approach involving exploration and systematic development, the reservoir geometry and sand distribution were progressively delineated. Continuous refinement of geological models, based on infill drilling data, enabled the identification and development of hydrocarbon-bearing zones. For effective reservoir management, water injection was initiated during the early production phase by timely drilling of injectors, converting existing wells, and carrying out strategic zone transfers. These efforts contributed to sustaining reservoir pressure and improving overall recovery. This paper presents a detailed account of the exploration, development, and reservoir management strategies undertaken for the S8 sand, highlighting key operational decisions and their outcomes.
