Abstract


The Tapti-Daman sector of Mumbai Offshore Basin hosts several hydrocarbon-bearing fields. Multiple gas-sand reservoirs in the basin exhibit diverse Amplitude Versus Offset (AVO) responses, with Class-III anomalies being notably widespread across the Daman and Mahuva Formations. In contrast, Class-I AVO anomalies have been identified only in isolated occurrences. Given their characteristic decrease in amplitude with offset, Class-I anomalies often remain visually subdued in conventional near- and farstack seismic displays. These Class-I anomalies are typified by elevated P-wave impedance and reduced Vp/Vs ratios, making pre-stack seismic inversion a valuable tool for their detection and characterization. Inverted impedance volumes, especially P-impedance and Vp/Vs ratio maps, offer enhanced sensitivity to these subtle reservoir features.
