Abstract

This paper presents key aspects of identifying depositional environments of pay sands deposited in the gas fields of Tripura using pressure transient analysis (PTA) in association with gamma ray logs. A depositional environment is a specific type of location in which sediments are deposited such as a stream channel, a lake, or the bottom of the deep ocean. The layers of sediment that accumulate in each type of depositional environment have distinctive characteristics that provide important information regarding the pay sand features. The well test data for Pressure Transient Analysis is an important step on the ladder of any integrated reservoir study, aiming at reconciling differences between the static and dynamic models. In this work large number of well tests have been analyzed and integrated with gamma ray logs to identify the area of interest and the Salient finding was the depositional environment in Tripura is low energy near delta feature.
