
The Society of Petroleum Geophysicists (SPG), Vadodara chapter successfully conducted one day training session on Seismic Data Acquisition & LFPS Data Acquisition for final-year M.Sc. Geology students of MSU, Vadodara. The event took place on January 24, 2025, at the Negi Bhawan Conference Hall, Geophysical Services, WON Basin, ONGC, Vadodara.
The session commenced with a welcome address by Dr. N. P. Singh, Ex-CGM (GP), he highlighted SPG's role in bridging the gap between academia and industry by providing insight knowledge into industry requirements to students. He expressed gratitude to Shri K. Baskaran, CGM-HGS and President, SPG Vadodara Chapter, for his invaluable guidance and support in organizing the event and deputing ONGC officers to share their expertise.

In his opening remarks, Shri K. Baskaran emphasized the importance of practical training to complement theoretical studies. He encouraged students to actively engage in the session by asking questions and making the most of the learning opportunity.
To set the context, a video showcasing an overview of seismic data acquisition and the role of field parties in ONGC was presented before the training began.
The training was divided into four parts, delivered by experienced ONGC geophysicists:
Class representative of students, Ms. Shubhangi Kothare shared her experiences, expressing gratitude for the insightful presentations that enhanced the students' understanding of seismic data acquisition. She also thanked Shri K. Baskaran and Dr. N. P. Singh for their efforts in organizing the event and acknowledged the presenters for their clear explanations.
The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr.Chinmoy Kumbhakar, he thanked Shri K. Baskaran for his leadership and Dr. N. P. Singh for his meticulous coordination in ensuring the success of the training.
This training provided valuable exposure to students about seismic data acquisition techniques, bridging the gap between academic learning and practical industry requirements. It exemplifies SPG Vadodara Chapter's commitment to fostering student-industry interaction and nurturing future geoscientists.
