
Association of Petroleum Geologists (APG), India organized their 6th South Asian Geosciences Conference and Exhibition, GEOIndia 2024, from 15th to 17th November, 2024 at India Expo Mart Convention Center, in Greater Noida, with the theme “Exploring New Dimensions of Energy Dynamics”. Society of Petroleum Geophysicists (SPG), India participated in the event.
The conference was inaugurated by Shri Hardeep Singh Puri Hon’ble Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India. The event was graced by Shri Arun Kumar Singh, Chairman ONGC, Dr. Ranjit Rath, CMD Oil India Limited and Smt. Sushma Rawat, Director (Exploration), ONGC & Patron APG, India. GEOIndia 2024 aimed to focus on all aspects of Petroleum Geosciences and E&P thus providing a unique forum for geoscience professionals, business groups and stakeholders to discuss and comprehend the wide spectrum of issues related to India’s energy future.

SPG, as a leading organization in the field of geosciences in India, was invited to showcase its activities at the event. SPG actively participated, presenting its various initiatives and programs aimed at advancing geosciences in the country. The conference provided an excellent platform to highlight SPG India’s year-round efforts, including technical talks, field workshops, student training, the publication of research papers in its journal Geohorizons, and its flagship biennial International Conference & Exposition. SPG also highlighted the Career Symposium organized during SPG 2023 at Kochi in which many students got job offers from leading companies in the oil and gas industry. These initiatives were effectively communicated through a series of posters and videos. SPG was represented at the conference by Shri Subhash Kr. Sharma, Secretary SPG and Shri Bikash Kr. Gupta, Treasurer SPG.
The SPG booth attracted numerous dignitaries and delegates, who showed great interest in the organization's activities and initiatives. They were also eager to learn about the developments and proceedings of forthcoming SPG conference. In addition, students from various universities visited the booth, expressing curiosity about industry advancements and the pivotal role SPG plays in fostering collaborative progress in the geosciences field.
SPG representatives encouraged the visitors to pen-down their valuable feedbacks and their appreciations while also presenting them with SPG-branded memorabilia as a token of appreciation.

The event was a resounding success, attracting over 1,000 participants across various categories, including delegates, CE course participants, exhibitors, and students. In total, more than 200 technical papers were presented, both through oral and poster sessions.
