SPG India, Kolkata Chapter Organizes Technical Lecture on Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Technology as DHI: De-risking the Exploration

The Society of Petroleum Geophysicists (SPG), Kolkata Chapter organized a technical Lecture on the topic "Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Technology as DHI Derisking the Exploration" on 11.07.2025 at 16:30 Hrs at MBA Basin Kolkata. The lecture was delivered by the invited speaker Mr. Subhasis Sett, GM – Business Development, Wave Geo Services Private Limited. The Technical session was chaired (Fig.1) by officiating Patron of SPG India Kolkata Chapter and officiating Basin Manager, MBA Basin Shri Jayanta Sarkar, CGM (Geol.). Shri Rahul Kumar Singh, Treasurer, SPG India, Kolkata Chapter briefly introduced the speaker

The session commenced with a formal welcome of the speaker Mr. Sett (Fig.2a) by the chair followed by a welcome address by Shri G.N. Baruah, Vice President, SPG, (Fig.2b) who introduced the guest speaker and briefed the audience on the importance of the topic.

Mr. Sett briefly shared his expertise on the application of Remote Sensing Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) technology (Fig.3) in reducing exploration risks as a Direct Hydrocarbon Indicator (DHI).

The lecture was highly informative, covering various aspects of NMR technology, its integration in exploration workflows, and case studies highlighting its effectiveness in de-risking hydrocarbon prospects. The session was interactive, with active participation and discussions from attendees, making it a productive learning experience for all present.

At the end of the talk the speaker Mr. Sett of was felicitated by a token of appreciation by officiating patron SPG India, Kolkata Chapter.
